Unifi reports first-quarter growth

Industry News | November 12, 2013 | By:

Greensboro, N.C., yarn maker Unifi Inc. reports that its first-quarter net income was at $8.9 million, up from $2.3 million during the same period a year ago, which can be attributed, according to the company, to gains from improved margins, lower interest expenses and higher earnings from the company’s unconsolidated equity affiliates, offset in part by higher expenses for income taxes. Unifi’s net sales were down 2.4 percent from $172.9 million to $168.7 million, reflecting declines in the company’s international sales.

Unifi Manufacturing, Inc. is a producer of multi-filament polyester and nylon textured yarns and related raw materials, providing global textile solutions and unique branded yarns for customers at every level of the supply chain. In addition to its eco-friendly Repreve products, Unifi brands also include: Sorbtek, Reflexx, AIO – all-in-one performance yarns, Satura, Augusta A.M.Y., Mynx UV and Microvista.
