PPG Industries’ Innofiber® XM fiberglass was honored in the Materials category of the Ringier Technology Innovation Awards 2013. The awards were presented by Ringier Trade Media, a Swiss-based publisher in the composites industry. The product was cited for its innovation and potential to contribute to the development of the Chinese composites market.
“Innofiber specialty glass composition fibers—especially the XM high-modulus composition—are based on proprietary PPG technology that yields mechanical properties beyond those of traditional E-Glass,” said Terry Fry, PPG general manager of fiberglass, Asia Pacific. “As the composites industry continues to innovate, the demand for high performance is increasing.” He added the trend in fiberglass development is toward better glass composition.
The increased stiffness and light weight of Innofiber benefits end-use applications, such as wind blade and transportation applications.
