Hinks named interim dean at NCSU

Effective July 1, 2014, David Hinks is interim dean of North Carolina State University College of Textiles, the college has announced.

A native of Derby, England, Hinks worked for Courtaulds Research for two years prior to attending the University of Leeds, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1989 and a Ph.D. in color chemistry in 1993. He has been a professor at the university since 1998. He currently serves as director of the Forensic Sciences Institute and is associate head and director of graduate programs in the Department of Textile Engineering, Chemistry and Science.

Hinks is a member of N.C. State’s Academy of Outstanding Teachers and Academy of Outstanding Faculty Engaged in Extension. He serves on the Park Scholars Advisory Committee and the North Carolina Forensic Science Advisory Board.
