Carpet rids home of dust mites

What's New? | November 7, 2014 | By:

Dutch designers at Studio Sieim-Pabon have developed a floor furnishing that kills household pests and makes homes more comfortable for people suffering from asthma and other respiratory ailments.

The Fervent Carpet is a coil of tightly woven material which features a connection that serves as a link to a heat source such as a radiator. Heated to 60 degrees Centigrade (140 degrees Fahrenheit) once every two months, the permeating heat from the spiral-shaped carpeting kills and inhibits allergy-inducing pests such as dust mites.

The process also allows allergy sufferers to live in conditions more comfortable than the usual coldness they have to endure to keep the pests under control.
