UNICEF Innovation, New York, N.Y., has partnered with San Francisco, Calif.-based product strategy and design firm frog and Cambridge, England-based technology company Arm Holdings PLC to launch the “Wearables for Good” challenge.
Open to anyone from students to engineers, the challenge invites the global design, technology, business and social communities to identify and develop solutions for areas where wearable devices can generate social good. Applications for the challenge will be accepted until Aug. 4, 2015, with winners announced in the fall.
All entries must be submitted through UNICEF’s website. Proposals should demonstrate innovative solutions, creative implementation, technical feasibility, intelligent business planning and potential for long-term success. Solutions should be cost-effective, rugged and durable, low-power and scalable. Entrants must choose at least one focus area from the Wearables for Good Use Case Handbook, also on the website, in their design proposals.
