According to a press release from Germany-based filament maker Oerlikon Neumag, consumer demand in the Asian flooring market is enjoying a turnaround, likely attributable to both the currently low price of oil and increased manufacturing capacities in Asia, resulting in a nearly 30 percent reduction in the cost of producing PA6 (polyamide-6) nylon granulate.
“The current market conditions, particularly in China, have resulted in low prices for PA6”, said Alfred Czaplinski, sales manager with Oerlikon Neumag. “In turn, this has created an extremely interesting new market for high-quality carpets. Our systems are particularly well positioned in the premium-price segment, which explains the currently stronger interest in our systems, especially within the Chinese market.”
Oerlikon Neumag presents its products and services at the DOMOTEX Asia / CHINAFLOOR trade show in Shanghai March 22-24. Since being launched in 2011, the company says that its S+ is the world’s biggest-selling BCF (bulk continuous filament) system, efficiently manufacturing high-end BCF yarns around the world, the company says.
