FiberVisions, a subsidiary of Indorama Ventures, is increasing its bicomponent fiber capacity in Covington, Ga. The expansion is expected to create a new generation of bicomponent fibers, the company’s largest line at 24,000 tons per year capacity. Indorama Ventures’ board has approved the project, a release in Technical Textiles says.
The company’s expansion is in response, in particular, to demands from customers in the carded, airlaid and airlay markets.
The project will include four bicomponent lines serving the Americas and Europe. Other global endeavors by the family of companies that includes FiberVisions Corp. will be completing a de-bottleneck of its existing bicomponent fiber lines in Covington this summer. The capacity of the ES FiberVisions Suzhou plant will be doubled to more than 28,000 tons per year in Jiangsu Province, China, to be completed in the summer of 2019.
