Archroma announces an improved UV protector

What's New? | June 10, 2019 | By:

Archroma has launched Fadex AS New, a UV protector to make automotive and transportation textiles more resistant to light, the company announces. Automotive components such as the polyester trims of doors and pillars, seat covers, and carpet flooring or head lining, are exposed to high levels of sunlight and UV rays over the lifespan of a vehicle. Sunlight and heat can make fabrics fade and weaken polyester fibers.

Archroma set out to give textile manufacturers a way to comply with motor vehicle light fastness requirements. Fadex AS New is said to be particularly effective when used in Archroma’s LIGHT FAST CAR system, which employs the company’s Dorospers A & K high-light-fast dyes. The new UV protector can also be used in conjunction with the company’s water repellent, soil release, antimicrobial, flame retardant and high abrasion-resistance functional finishing solutions, the release says.

The company says the new product displays low fogging; is suitable for exhaust, continuous and printing processes; and is recommended for the Thermosol dyeing process of seat belt fabrics. It also meets the requirement of the automotive industry VDA 278 test and is registered under REACH.

Archroma is a global manufacturer of color and specialty chemicals that focus on sustainable solutions.
