Coats offers new personal protection fabric

What's New? | September 23, 2019 | By:

U.K. industrial thread manufacturer Coats is launching a new product targeting the personal protection sector. FlamePro Splash Protect complements the company’s existing range of flame-resistant sewing threads.

The company reports the fabric is flame- and heat-resistant and is engineered to be durable yet lightweight and soft. The fabric is designed to incorporate thermal resistance and metal-shedding properties that protect against radiant heat, flame, metal molten splash and other smelting hazards. The product is reported to withstand molten aluminum at a temperature of up to 760 degrees Celsius.

The fabric has low shrinkage and low charring when exposed to molten metal splash plus soft and cool wearing properties. It also meets Coats restricted substance list.

FlamePro Splash Protect is one of the first commercial launches of a product developed at the recently opened series of Coats Innovation Hubs. The hubs are located around the world to enable Coats to collaborate with a range of innovation partners including customers, brands, suppliers, universities and startups.
