Schoeller Textil AG has introduced its new PROEARTH™ collection of biodegradable textiles.  The company says that the new collection is composed of bluesign® approved fabrics using biodegradable polyester; it debuted as part of the company’s FTC line, a joint venture between Schoeller Textil and the Taiwanese Formosa Taffeta.

The company says that the PROEARTH line as a continuation of Schoeller’s accomplishments of being the founding developer of the bluesign system and one of the first companies to sign the U.N. Paris Agreement for climate change. Proearth was created to help offset the more than 16 million tons of textile waste produced in the U.S. alone each year.

Proearth is made with virgin polyester that has been optimized for biodegradation, according to the company. The line will launch with five jacket, pant and lining fabrics designed for lifestyle, fashion and outdoor categories.

The company’s ecodye technology is said to save up to 30 percent of the water, energy and process time used for dying polyester. Its ecorepel Bio and 3XDRY Bio technologies for water and aqueous dirt repellence are PFC-free and based on renewable primary products.

Schoeller Textil AG, Switzerland, is a textile manufacturer specializing in the sustainable development and production of innovative textiles and textile technologies.
