Ocean plastic now used for thermal insulation

EcoNote | June 26, 2023 | By:

Ocean bound plastics constitute a big risk for the environment; they make up as much as 80 percent of plastic pollution in the oceans. A new product, Ecodown Fibers Ocean, is Ocean Cycle-certified and made at Thermore’s state-of-the-art production site in Hong Kong.

The product is soft and highly resistant to clumping, as are previously launched Ecodown fibers from Thermore SpA, Milan, Italy, that are made from PET water bottles. The company’s thermal insulation does not require special quilting restrictions or fabrics, and they can be washed and or dry cleaned. The product is offered in a variety of weights and thickness options and offers high durability, as well.

The company is also increasing the content of recycled fibers to 75 percent on its Thermore Classic thermal insulation.
