The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal District granted the Donald Trump Administration’s request to put a temporary hold on the New York-based U.S. Court of International Trade’s judgment May 29. The Court of International Trade Law’s May 28 judgement ruled in favor of six American-based companies, ruling that President Trump overstepped his authority when he invoked the 1977 International Emergency Economic Powers Act to declare a national emergency and impose tariffs on imports from several countries worldwide.

The plaintiffs include the six companies and 12 states that are also seeking legal action against the Trump Administration. Companies include V.O.S. Selections Inc., Plastic Services and Products LLC, DBA Genova Pipe, Microkits LLC, Fish USA Inc. and Terry Precision Cycling LLC. States include Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Maine, Minnesota, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, Oregon and Vermont.

The filings from the companies and states have been consolidated under Case 25-1812. The six companies and 12 states have until no later than Thurs., June 5, to reply to the U.S. government’s motion for a stay. The U.S. government must file a reply to the plaintiffs no later than Mon., June 9.
