In 2026, Birdair Inc. will mark a 70-year history as a specialty contractor for custom tensile membrane structures. To commemorate this milestone, the company will launch its Architectural Icons Tour, which will visit 200 Birdair structures across the U.S. over the next 12-18 months. The tour hopes to inspire and educate the architectural community by showcasing innovations in tensile architectural design from projects across the country.

The tour will feature a variety of iconic structures as well as signature projects that have been constructed using traditional building materials, said Michele Roth, business development manager and director of marketing. In addition, the tour will celebrate the 100+ years of operation and global presence of Birdair’s parent company, Taiyo Kogyo Corp..

“By visiting these iconic projects, we aim to highlight the creative and technical expertise that defines tensile architecture and inspire the next generation of architectural leaders,” Roth said.

The tour will kick off in July in the Northeast region, featuring key Birdair projects, such as the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, Pa.; USTA Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, N.Y.; The Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, N.Y.; and Domino Square Park in Brooklyn. At each stop, Birdair will share content from video interviews with industry leaders, to project profiles with design and engineering insights.
