Orlando-based Owens Corning has released a U.S. version of its Technical Fabrics Guide app for industrial, marine and transportation applications. The free app, which was launched in Europe in March, has been updated for the U.S. market and is available for both Apple and Android mobile devices.
The guide includes product characteristics, benefits and resin compatibilities for more than 50 fabric products in the U.S. market, including unidirectionals, biaxials, multiaxials, complexes, specialty mats and woven roving fabrics. Its material calculator enables users to estimate thickness for a laminate of a single product depending on the weight and fabric construction or, conversely, the glass content in a laminate to help identify the optimum solution for a given application. Results can be saved as “favorites” for future reference or used to send a request for additional information or a quote.
Additional features include a Fabrics Terminology section defining 74 key terms and a News section. The app uses simplified lists of product names and nomenclatures, helping drive a common language across the composites glass fabrics industry.
The app can be downloaded now from Apple’s App Store and from the Google Play store.
