Lenzing refines REFIBRA

What's New? | December 20, 2019 | By:

Lenzing’s latest REFIBRA technology features a scaled production of virgin TENCEL Lyocell fibers using post-consumer cotton waste, stated a recent news release.

The first phase of the technology upgrade increased the composition of pulp made from upcycled cotton scraps collected from the garment manufacturing process to up to 30 percent. Now in the second phase, Lenzing can incorporate up to 10 percent post-consumer cotton waste into the recycled raw material mix alongside pre-consumer cotton waste, according to the release.

The company expects the additional upgrade to drive developments for a circular economy. The Lenzing Group manufactures specialty fibers made from the renewable raw material wood.
