Orlando, Fla.-based Vestagen Technical Textiles has launched “Keep the Coat,” a campaign to build awareness that technological advancements have improved the ability of protective clothing in health care to be a line of defense for care providers, their patients and their families.
Scientific evidence shows traditional healthcare worker attire—such as a lab coat or scrubs—can carry and potentially spread harmful contaminants. Additionally, healthcare workers experience high rates of exposure, colonization and infection. However, a new textile technology that is a breathable antibacterial barrier fabric has been shown to reduce such contamination by 99.99 percent compared to traditional non-protective uniforms.
