A small Nebraska-based company is committed to helping you sleep better—and saving the monarch butterfly at the same time. The Ogallala Comfort Co. in Ogallala, Neb. says they are the largest supplier of wild-crafted, sustainably harvested milkweed products and raw materials.
Parent company Monarch Flyway’s first development in milkweed production was Ogallala Comfort Co., which manufactures a luxury line of pillows, duvets, crib comforter duvets, and mattress enhancers using the company’s Hypodown® fill, a patented blend of 70 percent white goose down and 30 percent syriaca clusters (milkweed fiber) with the seeds removed. Milkweed traps and suppresses allergens found in down that cause allergic reactions, making the product naturally hypo-allergenic. Syriaca makes the down more breathable, more durable, and helps the body regulate temperature, as well, the company says.
Milkweed is also the sole food source of the monarch caterpillar. Monarch Flyway seeks to protect and establish Monarch habitats by constantly developing unique opportunities to increase the potential of the milkweed plant. The company’s mission is to preserve the monarch migration for future generations. A larger demand for its products helps to create a bigger demand for milkweed and helps to drive growth of the monarch’s natural habitat throughout the U.S., Mexico and Canada.
