IPC to host free e-textiles standards webinar

Industry News | October 9, 2017 | By:

The development and commercialization of e-textiles requires a collaborative effort among diverse areas of expertise. Although this market segment has seen impressive growth, there are concerns in the textile industry that proper standards have not yet been developed, much less implemented. At IFAI’s Advanced Textiles Conference in September, there was considerable discussion about moving forward with the creation of these standards, and there was a call to get industry participants to become involved in the process.

IPC—Association Connecting Electronics Industries, an international standards group has announced that it will host a free webinar on a new standard being developed by the IPC E-Textiles Materials Subcommittee. This webinar will take place Oct. 31 from 12:00–1:00 p.m. Eastern.

IPC-4931, Requirements for Electronic Textiles (E-Textiles), Conductive Fibers and Conductive Yarns will be the first industry consensus standard for e-textiles materials. This webinar will provide background on the need for the standard, a report on the subcommittee’s work and additional activities the subcommittee has planned.
