Industry News, News | October 29, 2018 | By:

With the final transfer of ownership effective October 1, 2018, Oerlikon Barmag Spinnzwirn became the independent company STC Spinnzwirn GmbH (Starlinger Textile machinery Chemnitz). In May 2018, the Austrian Starlinger Group announced the acquisition of the Chemnitz-based business unit Barmag Spinnzwirn from Oerlikon.

STC Spinnzwirn has more than 150 years of textile machinery engineering experience. The company includes extrusion plants for the production of tape and monofilament yarns such as artificial grass, baler twine, or carpet backing.

“With this strategic step, we strengthen our position . . . in plastic fabrics and expand it with related product areas,” said Starlinger managing partner Angelika Huemer.

Starlinger is a Vienna-based engineering company with production sites in Weissenbach and St. Martin, Austria, as well as Taicang, China, supplying machinery and lines for woven plastic bag production, recycling and PET extrusion and refinement in more than 130 countries.
