Nerve surgery performed with sutureless polymer-based product

What's New? | April 27, 2026 | By:

TISSIUM, a medical technology company pioneering biomorphic programmable polymers for tissue reconstruction, recently announced the first commercial use of its product COAPTIUM® CONNECT. The procedure was performed by Dr. Michael Franco, a plastic and reconstructive surgeon specializing in peripheral nerve surgery at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, N.J. This marks a significant step forward in the adoption of TISSIUM’s atraumatic sutureless nerve repair solution following the FDA De Novo authorization of the product earlier in 2025.

“Atraumatic nerve repair holds tremendous promise for reducing operative complexity and improving functional recovery,” said Dr. Franco. “Avoiding trauma to the nerve is my number one goal, and this product does just that. This is the product I’ve been looking for—with no suture, no barbs, no trauma to the nerve. I am pleased to have performed the first commercial case with this technology.”

The commercial introduction of this product supports TISSIUM’s broader strategy of delivering a platform of atraumatic, polymer-based solutions across multiple therapeutic areas. The company continues to advance its pipeline of products, leveraging its proprietary polymer technology to disrupt the field of surgery and positively impact the lives of patients. The company is headquartered in Paris, France.
