Transhield receives $8.3 million defense contract

Transhield Inc. recently announced that it has been awarded an $8.3 million contract, the largest in the company’s history, to supply protective covers for more than 4,500 Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles in the U.S. Army fleet. The contract also includes covers for 217 U.S. Navy MRAPs, U.S. Marine Corps Light Armored Vehicles (LAVs), M777 Howitzers and other equipment.

As a result, the protective covers, featuring patented corrosion-reduction technology, will be used to protect more than half of the U.S. Army’s current fleet of MRAP vehicles, including MaxxPro, M-ATV and RG-31 variants. The U.S. Marine Corps, has been using Transhield vehicle covers to protect their fleet of MRAP vehicles.

Transhield vehicle covers provide anti-corrosive properties to help extend the life and ensure readiness of military vehicles while in storage, on base or awaiting redeployment. This order is part of the ongoing effort to reduce damage caused by corrosion and environmental degradation.
