Zimmer America reports sales record year

Industry News | December 24, 2014 | By:

Zimmer America Corp., Spartanburg, S.C., reports that 2014 will be a sales record year in the North American market for Zimmer Austria’s ChromoJet digital carpet jet printing systems. Zimmer America has sold the state-of-the-art ChromoJet carpet printers to customers in Suwanee, Ga. (Millenium Mat Company); Calhoun, Ga. (Marquis Industries); Scottsboro, Ala. (Maples Industries Inc.), and Cave City, Ark. (UniFirst Corp.).

ChromoJet technology can be used for a variety of applications from low-end velvet products up to high-end contract carpets. The technology works by injecting dye into the pile of the textile; the functional principle is similar to an office ink jet printer. Jets are arranged in groups, mounted on a print-head which traverses the mat; the computer-controlled jets open and close up to 400 times per second. The color pressure injects dye with surgical precision deep into the face of the pile without any machine parts touching the fabric.

Machinery, control systems, electronics and software are developed and built in-house at Zimmer in Austria. The company can provide custom-made machines for all kinds of applications.
