NASA’s Evelyne Orndoff speaks at the opening session about “NASA’s Wish List.”

Over the four-day IFAI Expo event, an more than 25 speakers have been scheduled to present on topics specifically of special interest in the advanced textiles industry. Additional presenters will be announced soon.

Testing, in particular

Of special interest at this year’s event is special programming and events on testing. In particular, there are multiple opportunities to attend a “Testing 101” presentation by Emiel DenHartog, Ph.D., Maureen S. MacGillivray, Ph.D. and Seshadri Ramkumar, Ph.D. This informal, one-hour seminar is designed to provide the basics of textile testing and includes opportunities for participants to ask questions from textile experts. The presenters will be prepared to address:

  • How do I choose a test method?
  • What do the results tell me?
  • What do the results not tell me?
  • How do I use these results in my own marketing?
  • Where do I go for further resources?

The seminar is free and open to anyone attending Expo.

A designated Testing Area on the show floor with demonstrations, access to resources and experts on-hand to field questions from attendees is offered in collaboration with NCSU’s, College of Textiles/TPACC. This is open to everyone on the show floor.

Additionally, there is a testing track during the Advanced Textiles Conference. Wayne Rendely and representatives from ASTM, CTT Group, Hohenstein Institute, Nanoscience Instruments, Exponent are among the presenters. Details about these sessions and others in the conference will be available on this site in the coming weeks.
