The rapidly growing market for wearable technology will be the focus of Sourcing at Magic, a trade show and conference slated Aug. 16-19 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The value of the global wearable-technology market is predicted to reach $20 billion this year and $70 billion by 2025, according to the conference presenters. Wearable technology is being integrated into daily life, recording world events, controlling the environment, and facilitating interpersonal communication.

In addition to a variety of seminars presented by industry experts, there also will be an interactive exhibit area with prototype garments contributed by North Carolina State University’s College of Textiles. Examples include stretchable electronics screen printed onto textiles; compression shirts with integrated dry electrodes for electrocardiogram monitoring and electrode materials for integration into a variety of textile applications.

Sourcing at Magic gathers brands, designers and sourcing executives to gain access to global resources spanning the entire supply chain. The event features representatives from more than 40 countries; more than 1,000 apparel, accessories, footwear and home textile resources, and more than 200 fabric, trim and component resources.
