Beaulieu introduces EqoBalance polyamide yarns

EcoNote | January 19, 2018 | By:

Beaulieu announced its new EqoBalance PA6 yarns. Production of the polyamide yarns follows the biomass balance approach, which ensures at the start of the supply chain that natural renewable raw materials partially or completely replace fossil fuel sources.

The process uses resources such as biogas or bio-naphtha to manufacture the polyamide. The share of bio-based resources is arithmetically assigned to products using a method certified by the control board of the technical service organization TÜV SÜD. The company says that the yarns reduce up to 75 percent of CO2 equivalent per kilogram compared to Beaulieu’s petroleum-based yarns.

EqoBalance was created as a drop-in alternative, so tufters shouldn’t need to make alterations to their manufacturing processes or final products, the company reports.

Beaulieu Yarns offers a variety of PA6 yarns for use in carpet tiles, carpet planks and broadloom carpets for commercial offices, hospitality and leisure, education and health care premises, and for automotive and residential applications. It produces custom-made yarns in four facilities: two in Belgium, one in France and one in China (Weihai).
