HyWEAR hybrid data collector introduced

What's New? | April 2, 2019 | By:

FEIG ELECTRONICS has introduced HyWEAR compact, a new hybrid barcode and radio-frequency identification (RFID) wearable, a recent release says. The device is attached to a fingerless glove and rests on the back of the hand of a stock person, parcel deliverer or baggage handler. The current process of picking up a device, scanning and resetting may be reduced to one step with the use of the glove.

As a wearable that supports both barcodes and RFID, the company believes HyWEAR compact to be the first in the product’s class to collect both optical and radio data. The mobile device is targeted to make the manual materials handling processes, including data collection, more efficient.

The device reads 1D and 2D barcodes, RAIN RFID transponders, or both barcode and RFID. HyWEAR also includes rechargeable batteries and WLAN roaming that automatically switches the device from one radio cell to the next, the company reports.

FEIG expects HyWEAR to be used in warehousing, distribution, manufacturing, baggage handling, parcel delivery, and logistics operations.

FEIG Electronics is a global supplier of RFID and barcode readers and antennas, providing data collection, authentication and identification solutions, as well as contactless payment systems.
