Lunar landing anniversary marked with special socks

What's New? | August 19, 2019 | By:

EnerWear marked the 50th anniversary of the first mission to the moon by creating their “Lunar Lander” socks, made with patented Outlast fabric that was tested in Space.

A recent news release from the company says the new socks are crafted from phase-changing materials that can absorb, store and release heat for thermal comfort. The micro-encapsulated materials within the socks can change from solid to liquid, depending on their surrounding environment and the desired temperature, by absorbing and releasing excess heat.

Outlast fabric was developed for NASA in 2003 and inducted into the NASA Space Technology Hall of Fame in 2005. The limited-edition Lunar Lander socks represent the latest line in the group’s technical range of footwear and are designed to provide comfort at the Antarctic Circle, in the Gobi Desert or even on the surface of the Moon.

EnerWear is a sub-brand of Asia Socks Inc., headquartered in Shanghai.
