Protect the Force Inc., a subsidiary of Vancouver, B.C.-based Mission Ready Services Inc., has been awarded a contract to develop an Advanced Multipurpose Base ensemble for Emergency Responders (AMBER) for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
The 14-month, $97,500 contract is awarded through North Carolina State University’s Textile Protection and Comfort Center (T-PACC). Protect the Force (PTF) will collaborate with T-PACC to provide expertise in advanced protective materials selection, including the identification of materials for functional design, prototyping, end-user requirements, performance attributes, material availability and manufacturer competence and readiness.
PTF’s product-development team, based in Boston, will support T-PACC—NCSU’s facility that performs evaluations of comfort and protection of fabric from the swatch level to full ensemble systems—in the development of concepts for review and selection by DHS to be prototyped and then manufactured for user evaluations. The team will also explore the integration of the No-Contact technology for further user evaluations.
